This receiver is powerful and works great with my Yamaha YSTSW012 8" Front-Firing Active Subwoofer. I purchased it to replace a burned out sub-woofer from my Logitech Z-5500 that also has the amp built in. The remaining surround sound speakers from my Logitech were connected to this receiver to complete the system and the sound is fantastic. The sound quality is awesome and the bass fills my 15X20 room. This is not an easy receiver to figure out. It takes a while to read the manual and tap into all of its features.
