I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on receivers from Sony, Onkyo, NAD, Carver and a few others, but never considered Yamaha...my new philosophy regarding electronics is not to spend over $200.00 on this type of item and if and when something should go wrong, just toss it and start over...Most everything that has emanated from China has a life span of about one and a half years to hopefully three years, however, not likely...products that are manufactured in China usually fall within those parameters, yet, products assembled in China but parts made elsewhere, have a better chance of surviving than those made there.Getting to the point of the Yamaha HTR-6130BL, Yamaha designed a small monster, as it powers through the five point one speakers I have set-up...My last receiver, an Onkyo, only three years old, gave way to that, what I have aptly called, "The China Syndrome." I have no idea what caused it's demise but from day one, it was plagued with functions that never worked or functions that worked but not as claimed or proposed...The Onkyo was four times the price of the Yamaha HTR-6130BL and it never, ever sounded as clear, definitive and powerful as the $200.00 Yamaha...I am and continue to be very pleased with the purchase of this Yamaha receiver. The HTR-6230BL 500 Watt has many functions as well as sound fields, a port for an iPod as well as a Bluetooth Adapter for other Bluetooth products that may be used with the HTR-6130...I am not an engineer nor do I have any extensive electrical knowledge, in testing electronic devices for a HomeTheater environment. What I do have, however, are two ears and I know what I like, which is all anyone needs to have in rating this type of equipment...For the price, I could not have found a better, more well-equipped receiver and the outlet that sold it, Discount Jungle, was as welcoming and helpful as could possibly be. Amazon and it's Marketplace of retailers is the only way to go and with Yamaha quality and engineering, it is a perfect marriage. I shall surround myself with Yamaha electronic equipment from this point on.
