I think that this is a wonderful device for providing water for any animal. I provides great water for my 3 dogs, i.e., 2 mini-doxies, and a 76 lb. female Lab. Anyone that has maintained water for animals knows how the bowl can get slimy and nasty from the dust and dirt from being on the ground to the grunge from stuff in the animal's mouth. The fountain is thoughtfully designed for cleaning and even pump replacement. The 50 or 70 oz. reservoir couldn't be easier to change out and/or clean! I use Brita filtered well water and along with the activated charcoal filter in the fountain the water stays fresh and aerated. I was very skeptical about any of these devices as just some gimmick, but after about a year and reading reviews I got the "Big Dog" model and very, very, happy. I would buy this again for me and for a gift.

It is easy to clean, as I alluded to above, and I use Dawn dish liq. with Clorox and/or Clorox Clean-Up with lots of rinsing! But the Westie gives new meaning to the term "finicky" - and Asta gives these treats five barks - I mean, stars. So what's up here?

The treats are mostly roasted chicken meal, supplemented with dried chicory extract, organic ground wheat grass powder, lecithin, salt, cultured whey and garlic, preserved with "mixed tocopherols," (I'm not a chemist, but I think that's a fancy name for vitamin E, sourced from vegetable oil). The wheat grass doesn't contain any wheat glutten - which I think is the reason it doesn't trigger the Empress' allergies. Wheat grass is an excellent source of any and all of the nutrients contained in fresh vegetables.

The treats are small "jerky-like" rectangles - no more than an inch by 3/4s of an inch, and maybe 1/16 of an inch thick, (they may be more appropriate for small to medium size dogs - a large dog would want three or four at a time). They're great for a quick reward and at only about 4 calories a piece, there's not much danger that your dog is going to put on unwanted pounds, (however I wouldn't suggest that you carry them loose in your pocket or purse - they smell strongly of garlic - I keep 'em in a zip lock baggie).

As far as I can tell, the ingrediants are all natural, but only the wheat grass is organic - if you are interested in organic treats, I suggest that you check out those made by Wagatha or Robbie Dawg.

Bottom Line: I think that Pet Greens offers both a change of flavor and a change in texture from most common dog treats. The Three Muske-Terriers are scarfing 'em down - your furry buddy probably will too.

I work from home, and usually my kittens are on my lap and up on my shoulders, trying to attack the mouse cursor on the screen or distract my mouse hand so they can get petted. If I close the door, they cry endlessly and try to dig a tunnel through the carpet until I let them in. That isn't good for me when I'm working so I got them this toy. It's a laser pointer and everyone knows cats love to chase laser pointers. That part is great.

This opinion is coming from an engineer, and I see 2 problems with this product.

1) The cats should be able to turn it on themselves when they want to play with the laser. Cats are smart enough to figure out that the laser comes out of the device, and touching or batting the device will make the laser come out of it. If the device's chassis were re-designed to be roughly half-spherical with a flat base and some ballast in the bottom, cats could whack on it with their paws without knocking it over. Put something dangly and attractive to cats on it to encourage them to touch it. A cheap accelerometer could detect the cat's touch and activate the laser. My old cat (a rescued feral with little interest in me other than food-and-water-provider) would not ever respond to her name, but she would come running if I called out "Laser!". Even before I turned on the laser pointer, she would look at the pointer in my hand and inspect the area of the floor it was pointed at. This animal had a few signs of unusually high intelligence, but I think most cats could figure out smacking the device gets them 15 minutes of laser play. The human-activated mode could still be retained as well.

2) The laser pointer jumps around too much and they lose track of it. It moves around one area for a few seconds and then disappears, reappearing several feet away, often outside the cat's field of vision. I have tried many cages for my four mice, and while this one is far from perfect I find it to be the best, but it required a couple of modifications. I should say that my last cage was the Habitrail OVO for Dwarf Hamsters or Mice, and while it looked awesome and the wheel was totally silent, the water bottle leaked like crazy (and the tube beneath it was not water tight so it leaked onto whatever surface the cage is on), there is VERY little actual "floor space," and since it comes in about 50 pieces and must be disassembled to clean properly, it's a huge pain to clean. It's pretty, but it's pricey and painstaking, and it's what led me to try this CritterTrail cage, which promised easy cleaning.

It keeps that promise. I find this cage to be extremely easy to clean, and I love the amount of open space that my mice have to run around, and I can use large accessories on the bottom level. No other cage system I have tried is nearly as easy to clean as this one is, which makes dual-level living so much easier to deal with. It's the space and ease of cleaning that make it worth looking past the considerable faults and making modifications to make it really workable.

The first negative thing that was immediately evident was the water bottle. It's flimsy, doesn't stay in place, and leaks all over the place, not to mention that when you take it off to fill it there's a hole plenty large enough for a determined mouse to squeeze through. I discarded this bottle altogether, put an endcap over the hole, and bought a good water bottle to attach to the bars on the back. I've noticed that most water bottles that come with CritterTrail cages leave much to be desired.

The second major problem, which showed up within minutes of moving my mice into their new home, is the wheel. It looks great and it's a nice idea to have the wheel outside so it takes up no space inside, but the thing is LOUD, and the tiny little guard around the bottom seam of the wheel does nothing to keep excrement from falling onto the surface below, so within fifteen minutes I realized I had a whole pile of mouse poop on my desk. I tried to alleviate this by buying the external wheel that comes with a little drawer for the excrement, but this fills in no time and can't catch it all anyway, because it flies out from all directions. I ended up placing an endcap on this hole as well, and I bought a small solid-surface wheel that I attached to the bars on the inner right side of the cage, which is the only place where it is possible to do so. I wouldn't recommend this for most hamsters, as it will only accommodate a small wheel, but this is fine for mice. You can however place a much larger, free-standing wheel in the front of the cage, leaving open space behind it. That, I think, would make it suitable for a hamster. The external wheels are absolutely terrible though, I would avoid using them. If you have the space, you could connect it to another cage that has an internal wheel, which would be a luxurious solution.

Despite the design flaws of the accessories, I would still highly recommend this cage if you're willing to fiddle with it a bit, as it makes cleaning a snap and it is very easy to view your pets as they enjoy this habitat.Get more detail about Super Pet CritterTrail Discovery Deluxe Habitat.

This is a great crate for travel and for dogs that will NOT chew things. This is not a wire crate. I have had puppies and dogs that chew. I would not recommend putting a dog that chews in a crate like this and expect it to hold up. (I've learned what not to do over the years! LOL) The crate serves its purpose very well for what it was designed for. I would not expect any puppy unsupervised to not destroy this crate. Enjoy this well made crate!
