I think that this is a wonderful device for providing water for any animal. I provides great water for my 3 dogs, i.e., 2 mini-doxies, and a 76 lb. female Lab. Anyone that has maintained water for animals knows how the bowl can get slimy and nasty from the dust and dirt from being on the ground to the grunge from stuff in the animal's mouth. The fountain is thoughtfully designed for cleaning and even pump replacement. The 50 or 70 oz. reservoir couldn't be easier to change out and/or clean! I use Brita filtered well water and along with the activated charcoal filter in the fountain the water stays fresh and aerated. I was very skeptical about any of these devices as just some gimmick, but after about a year and reading reviews I got the "Big Dog" model and very, very, happy. I would buy this again for me and for a gift.
It is easy to clean, as I alluded to above, and I use Dawn dish liq. with Clorox and/or Clorox Clean-Up with lots of rinsing! Even my new pup seems to be attracted to the light bubbling noises and the pump is very quite in my home.
